The Alpha Xi chapter of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity is pleased to offer one $500 and two $250 scholarships open to any incoming freshman male attending the University of Cincinnati fall quarter of 2010. The scholarship recipients will be chosen based on how well they exemplify the ideals of the Fraternity, often referred to as SLAG (Scholar, Leader, Athlete, and Gentleman). In the coming academic year, Alpha Xi chapter will begin its second century of excellence at the University of Cincinnati, and the active brothers are preparing accordingly. We are well positioned for a dominant year of growth as scholars, leaders, athletes and gentlemen.
I am extremely proud to be the new SMC of our chapter, and will work hard to continue to build upon the foundation that has been laid by generations of Alpha Xi brothers. This is an exciting time to be a Pike at the University of Cincinnati. Brotherhood is strong, our grades are on the rise, and we have leaders in positions all over campus, including Student Body Vice President Mark Rooney. Past SMC Brad Stephens was recently named “Mr. Bearcat,” the highest honor for a graduating male at the University of Cincinnati. Alpha Xi kicked off summer quarter by sending a group of ten brothers led my Max Schneider on a weeklong mission trip to El Salvador where they worked on a housing project for over 60 families. We are fortunate to have an exceptional group of gentlemen on the new Executive Committee. They include Vice Presidents Grift Krehnbrink and Jack Habig, Treasurer Chris Nesbitt, and Secretary Vince Pescatrice. In recent years, Pike has staked its claim as the largest fraternity on campus with an active brotherhood consistently numbering over 100. Over 35 new Brothers were initiated over the course of the last year, and we expect a great rush this fall under new Recruitment Chairman Josh Kramer.
On behalf of our chapter, I would also like to welcome all incoming freshmen to the University of Cincinnati. You have a lot to look forward to, and there has never been a better time to be a Bearcat! Alpha Xi chapter is very proud to offer $1000 in scholarships to incoming freshman males. Looking forward to fall quarter, our annual Alumni-Active Golf Outing will take place on Saturday, October 23 at Neumann Golf Course. Registration can be found at the top of the page. We are anticipating another successful year of Bearcat Football, and look forward to seeing alumni, family, and friends at the Nester House for Homecoming on October 30th.
